Running Toward the Smoke

Yeah. I've been staring at the ceiling again. Shadows creeping where the light

should be. Every promise I thought was real slips away like a ghost in me.

I hear echoes of the words you said, soft and distant in my head. I'm falling into

all I dread. Trying to breathe, trying not to break. I try to silence all this noise.

But every memory still speaks your voice. I'm losing ground, can't find the light.

Shouting truth into the night. If holding on is all I know, I'll let it burn,

I won't let go. My heart shakes when the world's so cold. I keep on running

toward the smoke. This pain's the only thing that's real. Tells me I'm alive.
