Saving Lives, Losing Sanity

I saved three lives before lunch, but the one I couldn't save was my own sanity.

The ER was a war zone, blood on my scrubs, alarms screaming, and Dr. Martinez

just asked me to choose between intubating the kid in Bay 4 or rushing his wife's labs because she's

on the board. I chose the kid. He chose to report me. Meanwhile,

my ex is now dating the attending who controls my schedule, so guess who's working every holiday?

A guy came in convinced his hiccups were a government conspiracy. I didn't have time to argue.

Gave him water. He filed a complaint. Administration cares more about patient satisfaction scores

than actual survival rates. I'm running on four hours of sleep and spite.
