Screams in the Appalachian Woods

Warning: if you hear screaming in the woods at night, do not investigate with a friend because

one of you will not make it out. My buddy Jake and I were camping in the Appalachian

wilderness when we heard the screams around 2 AM. A child crying for help,

maybe a hundred yards from our tent. We grabbed our flashlights and went to investigate together because

there's safety in numbers, right? We were so wrong. The crying led us

deeper into the forest. Jake noticed it first. The voice never

moved, never got closer despite us walking toward it. Then it started

repeating. The exact same cry, over and over, like someone hit replay.
