Layover of Second Chances

The loudspeaker crackled with the announcement that my flight was canceled. Just as the panic

set in I saw him. My ex David was walking toward me carrying a massive box labeled Kids

Activities. The tension was palpable. We had been assigned to lead the entertainment for the stranded

children in this chaotic airport. We had not spoken in years since our relationship ended

in total silence. With a forced smile I pulled out finger paints. Memories flooded

back of the spontaneous painting sessions we used to have. David gave me a hesitant grin that

mirrored my own. We fell into an old rhythm telling stories that had the children laughing.

Every accidental brush of our hands felt like sparks reigniting between us.
