Setting Boundaries with My MIL

“If we give in now, are we teaching her she can ignore us forever?” My husband says

we should take some of the gifts home so we don’t hurt his mom’s feelings. But in my mind,

that just sends one message: That she can ignore our boundaries, do whatever she

wants, and we’ll still accept it. And also — we literally don’t have space.

We were clear. We gave alternatives. We gave a wishlist. She ignored all of it.

I’m not saying she had bad intentions. I know she’s excited. But intentions don’t erase boundaries.

So now I’m stuck between: Keeping the peace Or actually enforcing what we said from

the beginning And now I’m being made to feel like the bad guy. So I need outside
