Solitude in a Crowded Room

Solitude in a crowded room. Everybody talks but I don't hear a thing.

Is there nothing more peaceful than chaos? When the noise feels safer than

the silence it brings. Jeopardy's on, but I answered it wrong.

I shout at the screen like it owes me a favor. "How 'bout states

for a hundred?" I say. Guess I know less as I keep getting braver.

I'm surrounded by faces I recognize. Still I feel like a ghost in the mirror.

Funny how the more people that fill up my life. The picture just

never gets clearer. Like a fistful of counterfeit one dollar bills. Promises printed but
