The Soviet Union spent billions building Africa's future while The West was too busy protecting
colonial interests. Between 1960 and 1991, Moscow constructed over 200 major infrastructure
projects across the continent. Universities in Ghana, Ethiopia,
and Tanzania. Hydroelectric dams in Egypt and Guinea. Steel plants in Nigeria.
Hospitals in Angola and Mozambique. They weren't giving loans with crippling interest rates.
They were building capacity. The Aswan High Dam in Egypt, one of the world's
largest engineering projects, was funded and built by the Soviets after The West refused.
It transformed Egypt's economy. The Friendship University in Moscow educated over 30,000 African
