Stalin Refused to Save His Son

Listen. Stalin's son was captured by the Nazis in 1941. Hitler offered to

trade him for a high ranking German officer. Stalin's response was brutal.

He refused. He said he wouldn't trade a lieutenant for a field marshal. His own son died

in a German prison camp. Stalin believed that any Soviet soldier who surrendered

was a traitor. Even his own blood wasn't exempt from this rule. The man who ruled

over millions couldn't save his own child because of his ideology. After the war, when Stalin's daughter

asked about her brother, Stalin simply said that his death was worth it if it saved

other soldiers. This is the same man who sent millions to their deaths without hesitation.
