Staying Close to Jesus

John, the son of Zebedee, was one of Jesus’ closest disciples. In Scripture,

he is called “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 13:23). This didn’t mean Jesus loved others

less—John simply stayed close. While others fled, John stood at the foot of the cross

(John 19:26–27). He ran to the empty tomb and believed (John 20:8). And later,

while exiled on Patmos, he received the Revelation of Jesus Christ (Revelation

1:9). Lesson: God reveals His deepest truths to those who remain

faithful, loving, and close to Him—especially when it’s hardest to stay.
