Why are steroids sometimes used in reproductive immunologic disorders? Steroids help calm
an overactive immune system that can interfere with implantation and early pregnancy. They reduce inflammation,
suppress harmful immune activity, and create a more tolerant environment in the uterus for
the developing embryo. Steroids are often used in patients with recurrent miscarriage, implantation failure,
or immune-related pregnancy complications, sometimes alongside IVIG, low-dose aspirin,
or heparin. Used carefully under medical supervision, steroids can increase the chances of a
successful pregnancy. Always talk to Dr Lito Concepcion or any of your reproductive immunologist to
see if steroids are appropriate for your situation.
