Still I Rise

Streets crack like my dreams, faded and torn. Born in a place where hope

don't get born. Power lines hum but the lights don't shine. Every prayer feels

like it's lost in time. Empty plates, heavy hearts, no escape.

Politicians lie while the poor bear the weight. Mama said Annette, just keep your

soul clean but the world's so dirty it's hard to stay serene.

Still I rise, even when I'm down low. Still I fight, even when the

pain grows. Still I dream, even when the sky is gray.

Still I live, even when they walk away. Job's gone, bills stack,
