Strict With Wife’s Resource-Guarding Dog

Am I The Asshole for being strict with my wife’s dog? Me and my wife have a dog that she had

before we got together. I love animals, but I have what I call a ‘strict love’ approach —

I’m super affectionate, but I don’t let the dog do whatever it wants. The dog has a serious

resource-guarding problem. My wife just leaves it alone or gives it treats to take

dangerous things from its mouth. But when I’m home alone, I can literally

take anything from it — slippers, toys — without any problems. I told my wife that

maybe the dog wouldn’t have developed this behavior if we had been stricter from the start.
