Surviving Each Dawn

Woke up this morning. Walked out of the room. Thinking of my

father and how the years have moved. Loss and pain. The struggle set

in. Coffee in my hand. But the joy feels thin.

The emptiness cuts like ice within. But the sun still rises, the flag still

spins. I hear your voice in the morning glow. Teaching me the

values I still hold. Fight your demons. Leave them behind. Each day's a

battle, a mountain to climb. Be proud of the man that

I've become. The strength of a man is how he survives each dawn.
