Teach Stay in One-Second Steps

Start with one second only when training your dog to stay. Most people fail because they immediately

expect their dog to hold the position for way too long. That overwhelms them.

Instead, ask your dog to sit, say stay, and reward them

after just one second. Yes, one second. Do this ten times. Once they understand

the game, gradually increase to two seconds, then three, then five.

The key is making it so easy they cannot fail. This builds their confidence and creates

muscle memory. After a week of daily practice, your dog will hold a stay for thirty

seconds or more. Small consistent steps beat giant leaps every single time.
