Texts From a Dead Phone

My dead grandmother has been texting me for three weeks now. She passed away

two months ago, and I inherited her old flip phone along with some jewelry.

I kept it in a drawer, turned off, until last month when I got curious and charged it.

The first text came the day after I powered it on. Just said checking in sweetie.

I figured it was an old friend who didn't know she'd passed, so I ignored it.

Then more texts came, always around 3AM. They knew things. One said hope your

interview went well, the day after I had a job interview I told nobody about. Another said your

father still doesn't know, does he, referring to something from my childhood
