Texts From the Dead (duplicated)

You know that feeling when your phone lights up with a message from someone who's supposed to

be unreachable. Last Tuesday night I was lying in bed scrolling through old photos when

my screen lit up. A text from my brother. Two words. Reached safely. My heart stopped

because my brother died three years ago in a car accident on a rainy night exactly like this

one. I stared at those words until they burned into my retinas. My hands were shaking

so badly I almost dropped the phone. The rain outside got heavier matching the pounding in

my chest. I checked the contact. It was his number. The same one the phone company disconnected

months after he passed. I wanted to respond but my fingers wouldn't move.
