A Nigerian scammer convinced a Brazilian bank to pay 242 million dollars for an airport that
didn't exist. Emmanuel Nwude pulled off one of history's biggest cons by impersonating a
government official and promising exclusive rights to build a new airport in the capital.
The bank sent the money in installments, believing they were securing a massive deal.
For three years, he kept the scheme alive with fake documents and phone calls.
When investigators finally caught him, they discovered he'd spent the fortune on real estate and
luxury items. He served just five years in prison. The fake airport deal remains the
