The Art of Firework Shells

They call it the art of explosive fireworks. This is where the shells are born.

An automatic tamariki machine wraps each shell in precise layers of paper. The thickness has

to be perfect. Only then will the charge explode evenly, allowing the firework to bloom into a

flawless sphere in the sky. This process is a modern evolution of a traditional

Japanese hand-wrapping craft. Today, mechanical precision allows hundreds

of shells to be produced. Inside, tiny pellets called stars are carefully

arranged in layers. When ignited, they burst outward, and the metals within them paint the night

sky red, blue, and green.
