The Choice of Exits

The lights snapped off again, and when they blinked back on, the figure at the

end of the corridor was closer—too close. My phone buzzed with 1% left. A new message appeared

from something called “SYSTEM RESTORE”: “RETURN TO WHERE YOU SPLIT.” Another message

followed: “ONLY ONE CAN EXIT.” The floor rumbled. A door at the far end blew open,

cold air rushing in. Behind it… I heard the same train sound from the moment

everything first went wrong. The figure whispered, right beside my ear now:

“Hurry… before it decides.” And I knew Part 10 would force me to face the other

version of me— one of us gets out… the other doesn’t.
