In 2008, Zimbabwe printed a $100 trillion dollar bill. Yes,
trillion. But guess what? It couldn't even buy a loaf of bread. Prices were doubling
every day. People were carrying stacks of bills in backpacks… just to buy lunch.
The government kept printing. Hyperinflation hit 89.7 sextillion percent.
That’s an 89 with 20 zeros. At its worst, one US dollar was worth 300 billion
Zimbabwean dollars. How did it end? Zimbabwe abandoned its own currency. They started using
the US dollar instead. Lesson? Print money long enough, and money stops
meaning anything.
