The Danger of Over-Explaining

You’re standing in front of someone… trying to explain why you said what you said… why you

did what you did… why you reacted the way you reacted. You think that if you just explain

it clearly, they’ll finally understand you. But the more you talk,

the colder they become. The more details you give, the less respect

you feel coming back. Your voice gets softer… theirs gets sharper.

And then it hits you—what you thought would bring clarity… actually destroyed your authority.

Because the truth is this, brother: every time you explain yourself, you reveal a part

of you no one was supposed to see—your fear. What I’m about to tell you isn’t romantic.
