The Day the Sea Took Him

From Lunenburg's old shores, fresh out of school we came. With futures bright

before us, whispering a hopeful name. Two lads, green and eager,

signed on the Bluenose crew. Bermuda bound, they told us, 'neath the sky

of endless blue. Guitar tunes and harmonica, a Celtic lilt in the breeze.

We dreamt of distant islands, sailing cross the seas. The ocean swelled

around us, a gentle rock and sway. Then skies turned dark and angry,

stealing all the light away. The Bluenose pitched and shuddered against the roaring

tide. Great walls of water crashed down, nowhere left to hide.
