The Disappearing White Christmas

White Christmases are disappearing faster than you think. Only thirteen percent

of Americans actually experience snow on Christmas Day. The odds are stacked against that picture

perfect holiday you see in movies. Boston has a better chance than most cities at thirty

five percent, but even Minneapolis only hits forty percent. If you live in Seattle

or anywhere south, forget about it. Your chances drop below five percent. Climate data reveals

something wild. A hundred years ago, northern cities had snow on the

ground almost every Christmas. Now those same places see bare grass one out of every three
