The Echos: PART 1

Elise had always known the house was wrong. Even as a child she’d refused to

sleep upstairs, insisting she heard someone breathing in the walls. Her family dismissed

it as nightmares. But when she inherited the house years later, she wore her grown-up

logic like armor. It didn’t last a night. The echoes began immediately.

Not normal echoes—these were responses. When she walked down the upstairs hallway,

her steps came back to her a half-second late, heavier… like someone walking behind her,

perfectly mimicking her movements except for that terrible delay. But it wasn’t until

midnight that she noticed the door. It wasn’t old like the rest of the house.
