The Forgotten Lions of Burma

They were called The Lions of Burma — soldiers who fought in one of World War II’s most brutal

jungles… and were almost erased from history. In 1942, as Japan’s army

swept across Asia, the British, Indian, and Chinese forces were pushed to their

limits in Burma. And in the chaos, one forgotten army stood its ground — the Chinese Expeditionary

Force. They marched from Yunnan through mountains and monsoon storms, carrying rifles

older than they were, half-starved but unbroken. Their commander,

General Sun Li-jen, was unlike any other — trained in the U.S., he fused modern

tactics with ancient discipline. Under his leadership, these men became known as The Lions
