Most people think the invention of the printing press changed the world overnight.
But the real revolution happened in a dusty workshop with a bankrupt goldsmith.
He was melting down his last pieces of metal to pay his debts.
Johannes Gutenberg didn't just invent a machine. He gambled everything on an idea.
Investors called it madness. But his first printed Bibles weren't celebrated.
They were feared. The Catholic Church saw them as weapons putting knowledge into common hands.
Within fifty years, Martin Luther used those same presses to spark the Reformation.
Shattering religious control. But Gutenberg died penniless, his equipment seized in a lawsuit.
