The Haunting of Hachishaku-sama

The Haunting of Hachishaku-sama happened in rural Japan and it still haunts me. A young boy was

playing in his grandparents' yard when he saw a woman standing beyond the fence. But she wasn't normal.

She was nearly eight feet tall, wearing a flowing white dress and a wide hat that

completely shadowed her face. Then she made a sound. Soft.

Rhythmic. Wrong. Po po po. The boy ran inside and told his grandparents.

The moment he described her, they went pale. His grandmother covered her mouth.

His grandfather whispered her name with pure terror. Hachishaku-sama. The Eight-Foot Tall
