completely ignore. That corn in your cereal or the steel in your apartment didn't just teleport
there. It traveled thousands of miles on a chaotic grid of rivers, rails,
and highways connecting the Midwest to the coast. Cities like Memphis and New York are
literal powerhouses solely because of their transport hubs. But building this
stuff is a nightmare. New York has been fighting solid bedrock and budget cuts since the 1920s
just to finish one subway line. It costs billions just to move you a few blocks.
