The Infinite Pursuit

Elias was a watch repairer. One night, a math book fell. The page read: On

the Pursuit of the Reader. Soon, more books followed. They whispered.

They moved. They called his name. The largest, The Infinite Ledger,

glowed with shifting symbols. Its numbers twisted like living things. Elias ran,

but the books always appeared ahead of him. At last, in the abandoned

library, they closed in. Shelves rose like cages. Pages beat like

wings. At the center, The Infinite Ledger opened. The symbols rose

and shaped a black door. Solve me, and enter, the book said without
