The Man Under My Floorboards

A man has been living inside my floorboards for three weeks and I only found out yesterday.

I kept hearing scratching sounds at night. Thought it was rats. Called an exterminator. He found nothing.

But the sounds got worse. Louder. More deliberate. Like someone dragging

fingernails across wood from underneath. Last Tuesday I dropped my phone and it slid under a gap

near my bed. When I reached for it, I felt warm air on my hand.

Breathing. Something was breathing down there. I froze. Didn't sleep that

night. Didn't tell anyone because who would believe me. The next morning

I checked every inch of my apartment. Found loose boards in my closet. They looked recently
