What if I told you there’s a highway in America so beautiful and so dangerous that people call
it “the road you’ll never forget”? This is the Million Dollar Highway, a 25-mile stretch
of U.S. Route 550 in Colorado, running between the towns of Ouray and Silverton.
Built in the late 1880s, it once carried miners through the rugged San Juan
Mountains, rich in gold and silver. But here’s the catch—there are no guardrails,
tight turns, and sheer 600-foot drops right beside your car. Some say it’s called
the “Million Dollar Highway” because it cost that much to build. Others swear the
dirt beneath it still hides a million dollars in gold. Climbing over 11,000 feet at Red Mountain
