The Mirror's Hunger

The Mirror's Echo Elena loved forgotten places. When she inherited her great-aunt's

isolated house by a dense forest, she moved in alone. First night, in the rain-lashed

attic, she uncovered a dust-covered antique mirror with twisting, vein-like carvings.

She wiped it clean and hung it in her bedroom. She dreamed of echoing footsteps.

Awakening suddenly, she saw in the mirror a tall, shadowy figure behind her reflection—eyes

like black voids. The room was empty. Unease grew: faint whispers through walls,

objects shifting inexplicably. She shunned the mirror at night. One foggy evening,

walking the forest path, she heard rhythmic scratching from the house.
