The Observer's Plan

Nobody noticed her at first — that was the point. She stood in the same places every

day: near the bus stop at 7:40, outside the gym at night, across the street

from the corner store. Always alone. Always watching. Victims later realized

something too late: she never followed them. She simply already knew where they’d

be. One man told police he felt safer when he saw her. Familiar faces do

that to people. He smiled at her once. She smiled back. Three days later,

he was found dead in his apartment — lights on, dinner still warm. No forced entry.

No weapon recovered. The medical report said the killing required “precise timing.”
