The Origin of Malakas and Maganda

The Story of Malakas and Maganda In the beginning, there was no earth, no land,

only the sky above and the sea below. The wind (Amihan) and the sea (Dagat) were the only forces

in existence. They were personified as two great gods, with Amihan as the wind god and Dagat

as the sea god. Amihan and Dagat lived together in harmony, but as time passed,

they began to argue and fight. Their battles were so fierce that they shook the universe.

The wind would blow strong, causing huge waves, and the sea would churn and foam,

trying to calm the wind. One day, a great reed grew in the midst of

their battle. The reed was caught between the wind and the sea, and it cried out
