The Path of No Return

In the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan, there was an old trail known as “The Path of No Return.”

Locals believed that at night, shadows moved on their own… and travelers disappeared without

a trace. In 1983, during the Soviet–Afghan war, a small Soviet patrol

was sent to scout the area. The night was freezing. Wolves howled in the distance.

And the only light came from the soldiers’ flashlights, trembling in the wind.

The commander whispered, “Stay alert… this place is not normal.” Halfway through the trail,

the radio operator tried to call base. “Command, do you copy? We hear movement!”

But the signal broke— nothing except static. Then they heard it. Footsteps… dozens
