A broke bandit king took down an entire city just by waiting them out. Back in 1076,
Robert Guiscard wanted the fortress of Salerno. He started his career with just a sword
and five horses, but now he was starving out a prince. The guy inside, Gisulf,
was a total nightmare who let his people eat rats while he hoarded all the food.
Robert didn't just smash the walls. He played 4D chess. He blocked the harbor and spread rumors
that help wasn't coming. After seven brutal months, the starving locals
had enough and threw the gates open. Robert walked in and took the throne. It proves that sometimes
the deadliest weapon isn't a sword, it’s just relentless, stubborn grit.
