The Rare Phenomenon of Thundersnow

Thundersnow is one of nature's rarest phenomena happening in less than point one percent of all

snowstorms. When warm air near the ground collides with freezing air above during heavy

snow, it creates the perfect conditions for lightning and thunder. The snow actually

muffles the thunder so much you can only hear it within two to three miles. Most people go their

entire lives without witnessing it. The lightning appears extra bright because snowflakes reflect
