The Recording That Whispered “Don’t”

I woke up to my phone vibrating at 3:08 AM. No notification. Just the screen

lighting up… and a new audio file recording by itself. At first, it was quiet.

Then I heard slow, wet breathing… too close. Footsteps creaked across my floor.

The mattress sank beside me. Someone whispered my name. I wanted to open

my eyes… but my phone speaker whispered first: “Don’t.” The recording ended. My phone showed

100% battery—I never charged it. Fingerprints… on the inside of my eyelids.
