The Russian Sleep Experiment

Did you know a Soviet experiment tried to remove sleep? Five prisoners sealed

in a concrete box. No beds. No windows. Just a promise

of freedom if they could stay awake. They pumped in an experimental stimulant

gas. At first, they spoke of their lives and dreams.

But as the days bled into each other, the conversations stopped. Paranoia and madness
