What if you could flip a switch and wake up inside your own dreams? In a normal dream,
we usually just accept the most bizarre situations without question—scientists call this "delusional
thought". But in a lucid dream, the brain’s logical centre, the dorsolateral
prefrontal cortex, suddenly fires up. Researchers have actually measured this as a surge
in 40-Hz gamma waves—a type of brain activity usually seen when we’re wide awake and focusing.
This turns the dream into a hybrid state: you have all the vivid imagery of sleep,
but the "higher-order" awareness of being awake. It’s so objective that scientists
can even verify it in a lab by having sleepers move their eyes in a specific "left-right" pattern
