water purification facility. Locals noticed prisoners arriving at night, but no one ever saw them

leave. Declassified files later described experiments conducted without anesthesia or consent.

One report mentions subjects exposed to extreme conditions to observe human limits. A former guard

testified that screams were recorded for medical analysis purposes. He said doctors took notes calmly

while alarms sealed the underground halls. When the war ended in 1945,

the compound was suddenly abandoned and burned. American intelligence reportedly offered immunity in

exchange for the research data. Most documents were classified, and several key
