All robots are programmed with three unbreakable laws, and the first one is everything.
First, a robot can't injure a human or, by doing nothing, let a human get
hurt. Second, it must obey any order from a human, unless it conflicts
with that first, most important law. And third, a robot has to protect itself,
but only if it doesn't break the first two rules. These aren't just from sci-fi; they're
Isaac Asimov's famous "Three Laws of Robotics." Today, they're a real foundation for engineering
safe robots, from simple factory arms to intelligent machines. As robots get smarter,
these rules are what keep us safe.
