In 1944, George Stinney, just 14, became a tragic symbol of injustice
in South Carolina. Wrongfully accused and denied a defense, a white jury took only ten minutes
to convict him. No evidence tied him to the crime. So small, he sat on stacked
books as he faced the electric chair. His family barred from the courtroom, George was executed,
becoming America's youngest. For 70 years, his name carried this burden.
In 2014, a judge vacated his conviction, finally acknowledging the trial's unfairness.
George was innocent, but justice arrived seven decades too late for this young boy.
