Crowds had long waited for a king. Many expected a ruler who would overthrow Rome,
raise an army, and seize power. But when Jesus finally entered Jerusalem, He came riding on
a donkey — not a war horse. Palm branches were waved. Voices shouted:
“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Yet this King carried
no sword. No crown of gold rested on His head. Later, standing before
Pilate, Jesus was asked directly: “Are You the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered calmly: “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world,
My servants would fight.” Then He spoke words that defined His reign:
