In 1916, a 22-year-old soldier wrote to his mother: If you're reading
this, I didn't make it home. Tell Elsie I miss her laugh.
Tell Dad I did my best. He died the next morning. The letter was
still in his pocket. Twenty-five years later, a pilot wrote to his fiancée,
Clara: If I don't make it back, don't stop singing. He never made
it back. But Clara kept singing for sixty years. We still leave
our words unsent, waiting for the right time. Time doesn't wait. Unsent letters become
our biggest regrets. Life is short. Send the letter.
