The Vanishing Chest

They were just kids when the accident happened. A sudden crack, a falling tree —

and their mother was gone. With no relatives willing to take them in,

they returned to the old house she once warned them about. Dusty.

Silent. Forgotten. While cleaning, they discovered a wooden chest hidden

behind a loose wall panel. Inside was more gold than they’d ever seen in their

lives. Enough to start over. Enough for everyone. But when morning

came, the chest was empty — and the oldest sister was already gone.
