There's no best all-around class in D&D—it all depends on your playstyle. But if you need

a balance between strength, defense, and magic, the paladin is considered

one of the most powerful and convenient options. Why isn't there a "best" class?

In D&D 5e, classes are balanced so that each has its own role. The "best" class

depends on whether you want to be a tank, a damage dealer, a battlefield controller,

or a support character. For example, mages and sorcerers have a huge arsenal of spells but are

vulnerable in melee. Barbarians and fighters, on the other hand, are durable and strong in melee

combat but have almost no magic. The Paladin is the golden mean. Survivability: Heavy
