The War That Lasted 335 Years

This war lasted 335 years and nobody died. It began in 1651,

after England and the Netherlands clashed over trade rights in the colonies. A forgotten economic

dispute. The war was mostly formal declarations no armies marched no battles were

fought. Over decades both sides simply forgot the war was still technically active.

For centuries, England and the Netherlands were officially enemies by accident. It wasn’t until

1986 that someone noticed and signed a peace treaty. After 335 years technically at war

but never a single shot fired. Zero casualties. Zero battles. All because of

a long-forgotten trade disagreement. So does this even count as a war?
