The Wisdom of the Baobab

In my grandmother's village, there stood a baobab tree that nobody dared to

touch. Elders said it held a trickster's spirit, echoing strange whispers

every full moon. I pressed my ear against the rough bark and heard a voice

clear as day. It spoke of times when animals talked and the sky was close

enough to touch. Anansi the spider tried to hide all the world's wisdom in a

single pot. His son outsmarted him, and the wisdom spilled across the
