The Yuba County Five Mystery

In February nineteen seventy eight, five mentally disabled men drove to a basketball game in Chico,

California. They never came home. Four months later, four of them were

found dead in the remote mountains. Sixty miles from where their car was abandoned.

In the opposite direction from home. One man was found inside a Forest Service trailer.

Surrounded by food he did not eat. Propane he did not use. Blankets he did

not wrap himself in. He had survived for weeks. Maybe months.

Then starved to death with supplies all around him. The fifth man was never found.

Their car was discovered perfectly functional on an icy mountain road. Keys missing.
